Many myths focus on pride, desire, fear, love, and sacrifice. Even when gods are involved, the struggles feel human. What do these stories reveal about how societies understand human behavior? Are myths reflections of human psychology more than divine instruction?

I have never tried to read mythology as an exploration of human nature, I have always tried to understand as something that occurred, it survived in oral tradition until it started getting written. However, it is also true that it explores human nature.

Myths mirror human psychology, showing how societies process emotions, morality, and social tension. Gods often personify internal struggles, giving narrative form to fear, desire, and duty. They teach lessons indirectly, blending imagination with observation, revealing collective attempts to understand why people act as they do.
