how did you make it so popular?

Hey! I'm making a forum about nothing in particular, just a general forum where ppl can discuss any topic freely without any rules or anything. I don't know if mine's any good but a forum can be the best ever but if no one knows it exists it'll go nowhere. I see this forum is pretty popular and I'd like to know how you got this far. Got any tips for me?

Without any rules, you will soon realize you need some sort of rules in place xD

I don't own a forum, but I do read and contribute to quite a few. I can tell you the ones I enjoy the most are the ones that the moderator contributes the most to. One in particular - he always submits new, interesting threads. He also comments on what others write, asking them to clarify a point or asking them follow-on questions. He's like a good conversationalist - whenever there's a lull, he jumps in and starts the conversation going again.

Nothing is more frustrating then logging into a forum and seeing that there is nothing new. Or submitting a new thread and finding that no one replies to it.
