BLACKSBURG, Virginia (AP) -- Weird, but harmless. That's what some people around the Virginia Tech campus once thought of the man now accused in two fatal shootings, the subject of a manhunt that shut down the campus for hours on the first day of the semester.

William Morva never wore shoes and used to talk about how much he liked to go deer hunting and commune with nature, said Madigan Milford, a Tech student from Berryville who worked at a downtown coffee shop.

"I thought he was weird," she said. "I would even say he was crazy, but harmless crazy."

"He was always kind of a fringe character," said Brian Segal, a Tech senior who said he knew Morva in passing.

my brother lives in Blacksburg, Virginia which is where that happened at. he told me that one of the cops that the escapee shot at was about 200 yards away from his and his wife's apartment. he said that the streets around his apartment was blocked off and there were cops from other counties, state cops and local cops looking for this guy. my brother also said that the town was pretty much scared to go outside and that basically the whole town shut down so they could look for the guy. im glad they got him and im glad that my brother and his wife didnt get hurt along with anyone else in that town.
