rofl, that is a waste of time. I bet 98% of the time all leads from message boards are going to be FALSE.

Re: Homeland Security plans to start monitoring blogs and message boards all over the

I believe this is nothing but an alarmist article .
I really doubt reading blogs is going to prevent anything. Besides , there isn't really an issue with the Govt reading what is has been publicly posted on a website. Its not a privacy issue --more a waste of time issue.
If one were planning a terror attack , posting it on www.terror@come&getme.com would be pretty dumb.
I have to say , that from my understanding , they are looking at web already --in some scale, nothing new there.

As far as use of Federal troops in the U.S. ? , it makes no difference what the Govt may say , or admit too.
The Govt will use Federal troops and authority whenever they desire. The laws prohibiting mean ......nothing.
I have long believed there is a place for Fed military expansion into the States , and that is building the infrastructure, logistics, { maintaining medical supplies and having a plan in place } to deal with a large scale terror attack---quickly.
I am speaking of the worst kind.
The first 24/48 hrs will be critical .
It will happen someday , thats pretty much a given, and how we deal with it is something we can control.

Re: Homeland Security plans to start monitoring blogs and message boards all over the

Can someone explain to me the difference between this and the NSA monitoring and recording all telephonic communications in the world? I'm more surprised that the monitoring of blogs and web sites wasn't already being done. I would suspect that 99.9% of the telephonic communications and the soon to be monitored blogs will result in useless information. But that is why these men and women who can create effective data mining software are paid so much.

Emails sent over the Internet are not private, anyone can view them. Question is whether you have a reasonable expectation of privacy. Given that you (that's an editorial "you" not you personally) are sending them over a public medium most likely you'd have a hard time arguing privacy. I haven't done the legal research on the issue so I don't know for sure.

Don't worry guys, you only have to be worried about the government gaining too much power if you're an "evildoer!"
