Even though some Hindus eat meat, Hindus basically practice vegetarian diet. Even those who eat meat, they avoid eating meat in certain days or during religious rituals. Avoiding meat is a central tenet in Ayurvedic nutrition. Ayurveda is more than 5000 years old Hindu therapeutic system. Plant-based diets are believed to reduce disease risk and are now backed by modern science for their health benefits.

Are you aware about Hindu diet system?

The Hindu diet often emphasizes vegetarianism, rooted in the principle of ahimsa (non-violence). Many avoid beef and sometimes even eggs or onions. Meals typically include lentils, rice, vegetables, and spices. It’s a mindful, balanced way of eating tied to spiritual beliefs.

Hindu diet system emphasize on plant based diet. Even for people who eat meat there are restrictions, for instance, when you are performing rituals, you cannot eat meat on that day.

The Hindu diet, rooted in Ayurvedic principles, emphasizes balance, plant-based foods, and natural ingredients. Rich in legumes, grains, vegetables, and spices like turmeric and ginger, it supports digestion and overall health. Many Hindus avoid meat, especially beef, promoting heart health and environmental sustainability. With its focus on mindful eating and moderation, it can be a very healthy lifestyle.

You have to be careful with these "miracle diets" they usually offer to miraculously lose many kilos and slim down in record time, since this is never completely real, although it is possible to lose weight with time, this takes some time, it is impossible overnight, so if they offer you a diet that works miracles in a short time, it is an absolute scam.

Yes, I’m aware of the Hindu diet system. It emphasizes sattvic foods like fruits, vegetables, grains, and dairy, promoting purity and balance. Many Hindus avoid meat, especially during festivals or rituals, following Ayurveda’s principles. Modern science also supports plant-based diets for improved health, longevity, and reduced disease risks.

I am Hindu and as you said I used to avoid eating meat on festive reasons. Now a days I have stopped eating meat because now I realise that my stomach is not meant to digest flesh. I have switched on to vegetarian food now.
