Even though some Hindus eat meat, Hindus basically practice vegetarian diet. Even those who eat meat, they avoid eating meat in certain days or during religious rituals. Avoiding meat is a central tenet in Ayurvedic nutrition. Ayurveda is more than 5000 years old Hindu therapeutic system. Plant-based diets are believed to reduce disease risk and are now backed by modern science for their health benefits.

Are you aware about Hindu diet system?

The Hindu diet often emphasizes vegetarianism, rooted in the principle of ahimsa (non-violence). Many avoid beef and sometimes even eggs or onions. Meals typically include lentils, rice, vegetables, and spices. It’s a mindful, balanced way of eating tied to spiritual beliefs.
