Had lunch w/ a friend at The Rookery after hiking the Indian Mounds on Saturday. Thought I'd click a few quick shots of the downtown area. It's still neat to me that you used to live here. :)

It's a shame that Macon has let the thugs take over b/c the downtown area is very pretty and could be a booming business. Unfortunately, it's very rare to go downtown for lunch or to a bar and NOT get stopped by one of the area's homeless people.

I had one yell at me one day when I called him out on his lie...he tried to tell me he needed money to stay at the Salvation Army Shelter. I told him that I know it's a free service and they don't charge and he said "yes they do, ma'am, yes they do!!!" So I told him "sir, I work for the Sheriff's Department...I know better." He started yelling at me, at which point I called my bestfriend and stayed on the phone w/ her until they got to the bar.

Every other Saturday I have a standing date w/ a close friend. We hike the trails at the Indian Mounds and then have lunch at The Rookery afterwards. :) I'm going to do a thread for the Indian Mounds in the future...but I have something I'm waiting on first. :ninja

Don't some of them charge like $20-$30 night after you've been there past a certain amount of time?

We only have 1 local that accepts 24 hours (it's the next town over from us, which is Macon) and they kick everybody out at 0630 hrs each morning. No long term stays and they don't accept anybody if they're not able to take care of themselves (i.e. they don't accept wheelchairbound people if they can't transfer themselves from cot to wheelchair and vice versa). You can get a hotel room around these parts for $29 a night.

oooh, yeah I guess it's different everywhere. I'm no expert anyway and may be thinking of a different type of place. It's a shame Macon was ruined from the Olympics.... SHIP THEM OUT! "See how clean our city is????"

LMFAO...I forget sometimes that you're from around these parts, Jezz. Most people don't believe me when I tell them Atlanta shipped their homeless to us to make the city clean for the Olympics!!! :24:

Hell, I went to Valdosta State!!! I got rejected from UGA School of Law, though, if that counts for anything. I grew up in a Bulldogs household, but only started following them the past 4 or 5 years. Moving to Massachusetts, being able to watch the games is going to be one thing I'll miss the most. :(

My sis graduated UGA in the 90s. But really I prefer Pro football anyway... I know, I know I should hand in my Southern card. But I fucking LOVE pro football. Oh an ofc little league football, but only cause my son is an uber BEAST of a running back :D
