I've got a long history of back problems from the military. However after spending 4 days in bed sick my back just totally went out. I am currently lying on the floor usings a TENS unit and on both a muscle relaxant and a hdrocodone.

I need to get better very fast (like in the next 18 hours). How do I do it?

Help!!!

What usually helps me is to lay on the floor and put a chair at my feet. Prop your legs on it so your calves are laying flat on the seat of the chair and your hips are at a right angle. It takes the pressure off your lower back.

That's all I've got. :( Sorry.

Ooh! Or Child's Pose, if you can manage it.

you might want to post this on a fitness forum as well if you have not already ... b/c chances are more people know about back issue and how to solve them compared to most of us here

Sam if you find an 18 hour fix let me know. I've been struggling with a very bad back for quite a few years and when it goes it takes a good week to 10 days for it to get even slightly better. To make matters worse I injured T5, T6 & T7 at work March 29 and was off work until mid July. Over the past week it's gotten worse. It's at the point where the pain is constant and it's making me real edgy and short tempered. Constant pain is a bitch.

I'm literally at the point that if there is a fire I'm dead as I can't get off this floor. I can NOT get to my feet and doubt I can get to my knees. This sucks. :(

Oh man, I feel for you. I've had back pain like that too. I had to lie absolutely still because even the smallest movement caused exquisite pain. Back pain SUCKS. What's the source of your back pain? Have you tried therapeutic massage?

Sounds like you may have a spasm....only massage or perhaps an anti inflammatory will work.

I KNOW you wont have any Hypericum.:(

I'm on Flexiril and Lortab 5. Tiny bit better today but I know if I do one stupid thing I am right back to crippled.

I jacked it up in my teens in the Army and it's getting progressively worse each year.
