I don't believe in it. I believe if theres one big afterlife or if if our soul just turns to energy. The last would probably be more realistic in terms if you believe in ghosts. because ghosts are just energy. energy that magnifies theoretically around different mineral deposits. I dunno where I'm going with this :D

so one of us is supposed to figure out where to take it?

when i was young, i sometimes had trouble keeping my spirit attached to my body in the here and now because it travelled through so many other cool frames of being while my body was living in these interesting times.

apparently, our souls are energy -- the life energy that powers these bodies if nothing else. what happens when the body dies? are those spirits discrete entities or do they just dissipate into some pool? can't be sure until we die, can we?

If you beleive in Heaven you must beleive there is a hell, One cant exsist without the other. And after all wasnt Lucifer a son of god that was exiled as punnishment??

I dont beleive in either but thats just me however, you cant say you beleive in one without beleiving in the other

I *think* it's something that was said to you as a child to make you behave, to make you not sin, it was built up to be this terrible place where there is fire everywhere and you get burned over and over and are always in pain. So a deterrent in other words. And it was just a natural follow on from that into adulthood, belief in it being there or not being there dependent on how much you believed it and/or your upbringing. Not being at all religious I don't really believe in it.

If there is a hell then that makes the devil a good person seeing he's running it to punnish all the bad people, working as a branch manager for god, so to speak.

I don't think, if there was a hell, it would necessarily be subject to any of our natural laws about things like how fire works.

But then I don't believe there is necessarily a hell anyway.

I actually hear what you're saying and it's more or less what I think could happen too, that or we are just gone, end of.

You only believe in Hell if you go along with all the other religious nonsense. Anything including a God that has to be imagined, you really don't have to spend much time worrying about.

However, to play devils advocate ;) if you believe or lean toward the idea of a spiritual existence, where consciousness continues and souls meet to congregate, the notion of 'judgment' is not much more of a stretch. Think of it as a report card and an opportunity to reflect on your Earthly triumphs and failures. Hardcore speculation, but fun to think about, no?

I do not know what to believe when it comes to the terms of Heaven or Hell to be quite honest. I do, however, tend to find reincarnation fascinating in it's ideals and concepts though I do find it sad at times. To know that your memory or loved ones are lost to you when you are reborn. Heavenly to be reborn as something more than what you previously were, but a bit hellish to lose everything and everyone you ever cared for in a sense. I guess I am back to where I started. I really do not know what to believe. That is just me of course.

I don't believe in Heaven or Hell; nor do I believe that there is a God or a Devil. I took Philosophy as an A-Level in the UK and there just aren't sufficient arguments for the existence of God, the Devil, heaven or hell.
My personal opinion is that religion is in an equal league to cults, i.e:

(I found the following definition on google)

Definitions of cult on the Web:
  • followers of an exclusive system of religious beliefs and practices
  • fad: an interest followed with exaggerated zeal; "he always follows the latest fads"; "it was all the rage that season"
  • followers of an unorthodox, extremist, or false religion or sect who often live outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader
  • a religion or sect that is generally considered to be unorthodox, extremist, or false; "it was a satanic cult"
Regardless of the references above to Satan and to religion, the rules and regulation apply to all religions. If you don't do something that your religion asks then you will be punished in afterlife.

To be honest, I'd rather just float about as a ghost for eternity anyway. :p

I don't believe in heaven or hell but this statement is wrong in my opinion.
Catholics invented hell to convince more people to attend church. Christian denominations didn't accept this idea until it became more mainstream. Jewish religion, although the same god, the god of abraham, denounce the idea that a hell exists. So who's right?

Well neither in my opinion, they are both fallacies but I think you can believe in one and not the other just like you can believe in santa and not the tooth fairy

I don't believe in Hell as a fiery abyss with eternity of punishment. I do believe, however, that we live our Heaven or Hell on Earth. I don't know what happens in death. I'm still alive. There's all kinds of possibilities. All that I know is that I'm living now and affecting others around me now. The choices I make today will affect me in my current life as they will for others, too.

Yep. Not only is it possible to believe in heaven without believing in hell, a lot of Christians do just that. Many Christians are universalists. That means everyone goes to heaven. Many Christians are conditionalists. That means Christians go to heaven and non-Christians are annihilated, that is cease to exist at death. Unfortunately, some Christians are assholes. That means they either like or at least condone the idea of torturing their fellow humanity for all eternity. Although to be fair, most Christians who believe in hell say it is not torture. It is only separation from God, that is living in a nice enough place but without God. That's not a morbid doctrine. And there are even a few Christians who believe hell is torture but disapprove. They are nice people with the misfortune of believing a horrible doctrine.

Personally, I don't believe in an afterlife. If there is a heaven or hell then I seriously doubt you or I will be going there. When people think about the attributes of a "soul" they are describing a person's mind. Neuroscience tells us the mind is a product of the brain. When the brain dies, the mind ceases to exist. If there is some undetectable "life force" in a person that survives death then that life force isn't "me". In other words, I am my mind.
