Hell

Why do people, even religious people believe in this? I've read the Bible and haven't seen anything in it which says its a place where people burn for all eternity, just a state of being dead.

I think from a religious perspective I've always thought of hell as a place without God.

I try not to think about Hell too much, as sometimes I think what happens in my real life is Hell at times.

Somehow, I must have redeemed myself in the eyes of God, and things get better again and my real life is like Heaven. Well... not totally like Heaven...

To answer your question, 14 places in the Bible (NIV) the word "Hell" is used.

Also, Revelations 20:14-15 says this:

Yup, I'm aware of those and they are only used in some versions anyway. I havent seen any though that specifically refer to it as a place where people burn forever. That one in Mark alludes to it but still dosent make it crystal clear about exactly is involved. Surely if this was such a fundamental part of gods plan, it would be a lot clearer than this?

43If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.[a]


Matthew 25:46 (New International Version)

46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

EDIT: To me, I don't really see how it can get more clear cut than that. Mark 9:43 says that hell is a place where people can go and where there is an eternal fire, and the other verses confirm who will be going there.

I think we shud not be limited only to the Bible, there are many powerful and more detailed Religious Scripts in the world, as far as my point of view is concerned, or rather what I have come across from such Scripts is that, the HELL is right here on Earth.... everyone has to pay off their deeds right here, the moment a living entity dies, their Soul is transferred to a new body (not human body always) .... Therefore, its Simple and Straight ...our deeds decide our character.

We can lie to anybody in this world ( even try to fool god) but we cannot fool our soul, and soul is same as our image when we see ourselves in mirror, we see what we are !!!

Peter I don't think you and me have any right to decide that if God is Cunt or if he is torturing people, we can't blame God for what we do and for what we are responsible for !!!! I don't see any incidence where God has questioned any persons rights of doing things.... Its purely we the people who are at fault and at the end we happily blame it to God for the consequences ....

This is it what I was talking about, Bible is teaching the right thing, to summarize, be good in whatever you do, don't fool people, don't bitch, respect thy parents (no matter how they are ) ... never give negative thoughts to grow in your mind and never speak false... these things look simple but very tough to maintain throughout our life ... and if anybody does so , Hell is not the place where they go !!!!
