NOTE: If you don't get why the title is what it is, look at my avatar.
Anyhow, I'm Caelan Stewart. I'm a professional Web Developer/Web Designer. I'm graphic designer on the side. I mainly work with logos, banners, posters, flyers and other similar formats, I mainly use a style of graphics called skeuomorphism, but sometimes I do use other approaches somewhat similar to iOS 7 (which personally I dislike due to the immense lack skeuomorphism and excessive use of overly-vibrant and colourful elements) when required, although not usually as bright. Skeuomorphism is preferable, however. I like to incorporate Skeuomorphism in some of my website's designs too.
I also know some C/C++, Python, Assembly (using NASM or maybe it was FASM, I've used both, but there was one I used more than the other) and I have tinkered with other languages like Perl, Ruby, D, VB and others. I have made 2D games with C++/SFML, such as the classing Ping Pong and a 2D driving physics simulator (not really game, but could be easily adapted). I have made Windows programs using the Win32 API, nothing major, but programs nonetheless. I have made programs for Linux command-line and GUI using Qt, GTK+ and even Xlib. Although Xlib is a PITA. I haven't coded and programs for OS X (yet).
At one point I began coding an interpreter for a small custom programming language, I had it nearly working the basics at one point and then did something that broke it and never continued with it. It got as far as lexing the code and beginning to follow the instructions, but it kept segfaults when I changed something, that's when I left it to rot in the depths of my hard drive.
In terms of physical activities, I like to ride a bike, play table tennis, play football (not full games, but just having a kick around with friends generally), arm wrestling is quite fun between a few friends, I usually win at table tennis and arm wrestling though (not at all boasting, i'd never do something so egotistical ).
In terms of social activities. As dumb as this may sound, I do love having a good party and getting smashed, but on one condition there's got to be music and a bonfire, otherwise it's not a party. Sometimes, I have mini parties in my back garden with friends, we'll have a fire and i'll get plenty of beer, cider or ale, depending on how I feel. Spirits aren't my favourite, so I don't often drink them. I also enjoy walks up on the hills with a friend, usually my friend Micheal (yes it is "ea"), I've known him since I was 6 (although it wasn't until I was 8 or something when we stopped hating each other and fighting every day). I enjoy going to the warren (I live in Folkestone in the UK, there's a lovely area at the seafront called the warren, not sure why, but it's called the warren) and walking up and down.
I like building things, I love building big k'nex/lego models (never get too old for that). I like building sheds and things like that too, I don't mind a bit of labour, not that building a small shed is much labour, digging and filling a 6x6x1 foot cuboid with concrete (for a shed base) is hard labour, breaks your back digging all that soild, especially seeing that this specific area was covered thorn bushes, thick grass and the mud was fairly dry at the time. I also used to build towers that were taller than me with Jenga bricks, I used to love that.
I like to listen to music. I like all sorts of music, classical, old and new. But if I were asked my favourite genre, I would say Dubstep. Bear with me on this one haha, I don't like new, commercialised Dubstep like what Skrillex or Excision makes (amongst other musicians who create similar sounding music). I like original dubstep (pre-2007/8) or music that may be newer but of a similar style. I also like dark minimal dubstep (music like what's made by Kryptic Minds, Biome and other musicians like that) amongst other Dubstep sub-genres. I also like The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Stranglers and others. I like Dub (one of the predecessors of Dubstep), Dub is originally from the 60s and 70s and my favourite old Dub artist is King Tubby. But there are others and there are also modern artists who create Dub in a similar style to King Tubby, but in superior quality obviously (old vacuum tube/early transistor based drum machines and samplers didn't sound too good).
And before I end this lengthy auto-biography novel-like post, I'll tell you I also enjoy building computers, fixing computers and hacking (I don't do anything illegal, although I have done, and probably shouldn't have done). I also like playing pranks on people and watching pranks compilations on YouTube. I like drawing too.
I'll tell you what, instead of my typing everything I like, why don't you just ask me if I like something and I'll answer...
Anyhow, good to be here. Looking forward to talking to you all.
BTW, I got this site from TAZ.
