Years ago, a co-worker of mine believed that if you just talked to violent, cold people, that you could get through to them.
OK, so your going to be able to somehow get the sociopaths of the world to suddenly feel sympathy and empathy for others for the first time in there entire lives, even though Anti Social Personality Disorder, as with all personality disorders, is irreversible?
And your going to be able to do the same with psychopaths, even though psychotherapy makes it worse for those people?
Highly trained shrinks are unable to get through to many of their patients. But this co-worker of mine, who had no degree in psychology, thought she could get through to these types.
It would be nice if getting through to all of the dirtbags of the world were possible. But it's not realistic with a lot of them. In another words, be realistic even if it hurts to do so.
