I had my vaccations today for when I go to Mauritius in 2 weeks time and I hate needles, plus there is still a tingling sensation in my left arm from the needle. D:

when I was a teenager I was at the pediatricians office and all of a sudden there was a loud thump in the room next to the one I was in. The nurse knew immediately what had happened. This 6' tall 17 year old kid passed out when getting a shot. :D

Laughed my ass off.

If I was afraid of needles I would be screwed as I have to get quarterly blood tests and typically a phlebotomy. And trust me those phlebotomy needs are like a horse needle compared to the ones for a shot. And to make it worse they never can find a vein. Now ya know why I am a prick :p

Think selling my plasma to make extra beer money in college got me over needles.

Now, when they're putting your blood back into you and you see a bubble coming down the tube back into your arm, after watching too much TV, that could freak you out LOL

I'll never understand peoples fear of needles. Sure, they aren't fun or pleasant by any stretch, but it's nothing to freak out about (not saying anyone in particular, but I've seen adults restrained to get a flu shot).

Find a real fear, like those water snakes in Australia. The ones that are 100x more deadly than a King Cobra.

Now, THAT is something to be scared of. :D

I have to give vitamin k to newborns. Its given into the muscle on the outside thigh. Babies dont tend to have much muscle anywhere when new. Id be fucked if I was scared of needles.

I really really enjoy having blood tests. It's amazing watching the blood fill up the little vials and them trying to find the vein. I find it so fascinating and I don't care how strange that makes me sound.

I don't mind injections either but I don't enjoy them as much as blood tests. Only time I've really disliked one is when it was injected into my gum. But if it's anywhere else, it's good.

Same here. My veins are deep and they roll. When I was in EMT school and we were getting ready to practice starting IVs my instructor went around the classroom and looked at everybody's veins. His response to mine was "oh, YOU'RE gonna be fun." FML, right??? :24: When I was in the hospital for 3 days I was stuck a total of 16 times. At least 4 of those were IVs or IV attempts (they tend to collapse after a day, for me).

Needles don't bother me. Even that shot in the roof of your mouth that everybody cries about at the dentist. :dunno Oddly enough, though, the thought of the little rubber tubing from an IV being inside my vein still creeps me out. LOL

Dr's love my veins. I have good ones for bleeding. And I let them get on with it. I did take my own IV out though, I just asked if I could take it out, the nurse went away to get the sharps bin etc so she could tak eit out for me, and when she got back I had it dangling in front of me waiting on her haha.

The lady that took out my last IV did so w/o any gloves on AND laid the IV on the little dinner table thing in the hospital room. :yuk

Eww, I would not be doing it without gloves (except my own obviously) and we are meant to put them straight in the sharps to prevent needle stick injuries. They are a pain in the ass, have to get all sorts of testing done.

The vein on my right arm is much easier to find than the one on my left arm. Which is annoying because every blood test I've had they insist on taking blood from the left arm because I am right handed. Cue tourniquets, my arm in the air, squeezing the ball and them slapping my arm trying to get the vein to pop out so they know where it is. Then most of the time my vein will push the needle out so they then transfer it to my right arm anyway.

They all have this problem apart from one doctor when I was in hospital. He just came and stuck the needle straight into my left arm, no fussing about. I was really impressed by him.

I have only had one person actually listen to me when I tell them where they need to try for a vein. She hit it first try.

I couldn't be a heroine addict, one because, well, I would never try heroine, and two, because while I may not be scared of needles the idea of injecting myself to feel "good" isn't at all appealing.

Ironic that you'll inject yourself into a chick to feel good though isn't it?
