I just finished reading the series and thought I'd post a topic because I have a question. Since Harry Potter is basically old news I don't think it should be too big of a deal if spoilers are posted. I'm going to assume that most, if not all, who are interested would have already read the books and/or seen the movies.

Anyhoo...my question...

In the final duel between Harry and Voldemort, Harry tells Voldemort that he isn't the master of the Elder Wand because Draco Malfoy stole it from Dumbledore's tomb before Voldemort did. Since Harry had previously disarmed Malfoy it meant that he, Harry, was the true master of the Elder Wand. This confused me because I don't ever remember reading that Malfoy stole anything from Dumbledore's tomb. Did I miss something or did Harry make that up to fool Voldemort? I will admit that I read the Deathly Hallows very fast because I wanted to know what happened so it's possible I missed things here and there.

No no no, I think, or read it as, the elder wand isn't a physical wand, it's a power. Like Malfoy disarmed Dumbledore, so the power of the elder wand transferred to Malfoy's wand.

Oh wait, I read things wrong. It doesn't say Malfoy stole it from his tomb, it says he disarmed Dumbledore, which he did. My bad. Such things happen when I read in a rush. :D

And I disagree. I think the book is fairly clear that the Elder Wand is an actual wand. But its power only works to its full potential for the one that it recognizes as having defeated the previous owner.

I went to see the movie this evening. :mad It was good except the last duel between Harry and Voldemort was complete garbage. :thumbdown:mad I can understand them changing things because of time constraints but showing it the way the book was written wouldn't have taken any longer than the way they did it. This is why movies based on books tend to just piss me off. The ending (where Harry breaks the Elder Wand and throws it away) was horrid too. The final scene with them and their kids was just comical. The kids were almost as big as they were. free-happy-smileys-839.png

I think I'll probably end up buying the set of movies. I'll have to see them all now, even if they give me rage. :willy_nilly:

I completly agree with u! The books are 100000 times better... So much details are skipped and changed! But as for Deathly Hallows film I like it in comparison with Goblet of fire :)
