I took my ten year old son to see this on Friday. Was a good laugh for the both of us, especially the bully part. My son thought it was EXTREMELY funny to hear 'Hancock's " advice on how to solve the bully issue. :D :eek

Its the sort of movie you go expecting something completely different and get something entirely new... was certainly worth the money.:thumbup The language on the other hand, was a bit off... some parts I felt embarrassed to have brought my son, but the fact a child younger than him was in the seat below us gave me some relief.

...and quite the unexpected twist in the end too....:thumbup

Smith is a really good actor. I've loved him in I Am Legend, Pursuit of Happyness and Hancock. He's just really underrated... people like to shit all over him.

On my livejournal I write down little comments about every movie I see so I can remember them a little better. It's not formatted correctly or anything, but they're a mix of a review and notes I guess. Here's what I said about Hancock:

I'm also a big superhero (fan) myself, and the "what if someone was the only superhero in the world?" question has always been cool. This movie is neat since it actually shows consequences of his actions, since it offers a more "realistic" look at the superhero dilemma. The script could use a little bit of work but the drama was pretty decent, as well. And I like Will Smith. He's impressed me with some of his roles, such as I Am Legend and The Pursuit of Happyness. He gives another solid performance in this one and I wish people would drop the stigma that's around him (or was, maybe I'm behind the times and they already have). When the movie starts trying to explain certain things, it gets a little "egh" but it's not a big deal, really. Special effects were good, the action was entertaining. The love plotline wasn't so much about love but it was used as a way for the characters to grow/a way to comment on self destructive relationships. Part during credits unnecessary.

Plot was a little wonky at times, but fuck it, it entertained me and there was some good laughs.
8/10

My husband really wants to see this movie, he says it looks really funny

Just don't go in thinking it's a comedy. It does have funny parts for sure -- in fact, some are quite hilarious -- but it goes back and forth between comedy and drama, siding more frequently with drama. It taints experiences if you go in expecting one thing and get another, genre wise, and not everybody can adapt to it.

I absolutely loved this movie. I'm really hoping they make a sequel to it and keep Will Smith in the role.

HANCOCK is currently on PPV, so finally rented it and really enjoyed it. Could've done without a few scenes, but other than that, very nicely done.
