So, I saw this morning Google have announced their THIRD attempt at Social Networking and rivalling Facebook.

Since this is a pretty big and open minded community.. I wondered what everyone else thought about it?
Should they just give up?
Should they perhaps try and buy into one of the exiting social networks?
Should they focus more on their Business Products?

I think it's stemmed from Facebook losing people to be honest. I'm not saying Google shouldn't go for it, but it probably won't work out in the end because the other bases are covered. I'd say Twitter's success is a big reason as to why, as well as the blogging sites like Cover It Live etc.

I am rarely on facebook anymore. They keep updating, and there are alot of problems on there. Alot of people have left already.

Not impressed with being added to a dating site, when uploading something on there a few weeks back.

Same, I used to be a huge facebook user, now I use it just for communicating with my Family for events and such..

Well, I think Google Wave was their attempt to rival facebook, while Google Buzz was their Twitter alternative.. both failed generally because they had privacy issues and were (in my opinion) rubbish.

Buzz for example meant all my friends had to have a Gmail account... 90% don't - so Buzz was useless for me.

Honestly, I think social networking is about to undertake a huge change in the next 2 years... things have been too relatively stagnant lately in that area of the net in terms of new development.

I dunno but i think Facebook should fix exuisting issues before updating.

If they want to make a success of it they need to do something different that isn't already out there, like twitter, just being another social network isn't going to get them anywhere because it's pretty pointless.

My boyfriend has Googleplus (cant find the plus sign on this damn keyboard). Its very similar to FB. They arent taking any more people at the moment I dont think so Ill have to wait a little bit. Will be interesting to see if it takes off or not.
