Google buys Youtube for....

get ads placed in your videos, and you wont see any money from it

Thinking about this I doubt this is true. Google will likely work to corner the video market with profit sharing as they do for AdSense publishers - contextual ads served with revenues split between publisher (in this case video provider) and Google.

Recall also that Google is investing in radio as well - they will be working on turning the search giant into a media giant but in a way Yahoo (who focuses on content) has not. Google is very much about indexing everything. It will be interesting to see how they manage this incredible opportunity.
 
Just a clarification, the $1.65 billion is a "stock" only deal, no cash. So it's only worth that as long as Google's stock is worth at least 1.65 billion. So, when you think about it, Google basically got them for free because if they (Google) were to lose all their money, they can just claim Bankruptcy. Of course, I don't see this happening, but stranger things have happened. Just when you thought the .com days were over, another purchase to make you say hmmm.....
