I was flipping through the channels this morning and stumbled across the 700 Club while they were doing their "Prayers Answered" segment. Immediately I had a flash back to when a friend and I in college attended a Pentecostal service (for fun) when they did "miracles of the week". "I broke my leg, prayed to Je-SUS, and praise the Lord I was healed!"
Apparently the key to miracle healing is to watch the 700 Club, touch the area of your body in pain and voila, you will be healed! This according to the many letters the hosts were happy to read on air. One lady had a bone condition (possibly cancer) in her jaw with an open sore and while watching the 700 Club she placed her hand to her jaw and not only did the pain go away but her sore magically closed! Then there was the guy who had back injuries and bulging disks and while watching the 700 Club, he had a similar experience. It's a MIRACLE!
I'm not saying there no cases where people have unexpectedly recovered from serious or even fatal injuries but I not heard of any documented cases where broken bones were instantly healed, and I have a real problem when a religious show promotes this as a reason to watch them. The problem with miracles is that it requires a big assumption to attribute them to God our father who purposely chose you to save. I mean yeah, maybe, but can this be the only explanation?
