Gargantuan Moth

I so like using that word in a sentence I think the technical term for this moth is a Polyphemus. They are huge. About 6 inches across. I took this one but wasn't lucky enough to get it's mate which had more pink on her wings. They were on our front porch one morning and I caught this one as he landed in our planter.

Aren't they cool? It's the only time I've seen them too. I took this back in January of 08. I wish I had been quick enough getting the camera to get both of them. I think we interrupted them... oopsie!
