Now available for downloading.

I got a popup on my XP machine stating that version 7 will no longer be supported as of 5/31.

Be sure to delete prior versions and run a program such a CCleaner to clear registry entries from prior versions.

It installed without a hitch.

I'm pretty sure version 8 is free, I know how to delete the old version but it would be a nightmare for me to tell you how, you'll have to wait for someone with a clearer way of telling things, like Tim, to explain that to you.;)

Thanks Pete...

No problem, will just add that to the list of things when I get my computer man round, that I have just managed to find to sort out my probs on here, but it won't be til after half-term. I was going to have a go if it was possible, but LOL...... me and 'computer possible' in the same sentence don't go eh? :24:

Just hope the bloke doesn't let me down cos it's been hard to find someone to do it - not heard personally, of many can do it or who I feel ok to do it.

I will be getting him to go over the pics from camera to comp and how to be able to find them once put on comp, :D how to photoshop and whatever else comes to mind - look out Sky, CB and Dana. :D

:jk :24: ;)

yea AVG has a real time online scanner which scans for threats on website that you may visit so yea could be!

If you have an old computer then yes AVG wil aso slow it down big time as it uses up alot of systems resources

As for getting rid of old versions of AVG then you could just use the update function built into AVG to update, or if you uninstall it makie sure you get rid of the registry keys and the startup items

really most things arent that hard to do! save some cash and do it yourself, im sure there is much info on the net that will tell you step by step how to do it all!

you will feel better bout it for doing it yourself anyway! thats if you trsut yourself lol

Quick question; when was the last time you guys found any kind of threat when scanning with an Anti-Virus?

exactly lol not that avg picks up everything anyway lol Kaspersky is the best picks up everything!

But yea online threats arent as bad as they are made out to be!

Well, I don't use an Anti-Virus anymore. Waste of resources. Anyway, I tried AVG 8, just to see how it was... my God it sucks arse so bad. Whatever happened to AVG being a 'light' alternative to big companies like Norton and McAfee? It's just turned into another piece of bloatware. Really, Avast has AVG beat when it comes to reliable Anti-Virus systems that don't drain your PC of all its power and speed. Some of you guys might like to check it out.

If you're into buying/pirating your Anti-Virus then I don't think there's much better than Nod32. It's very light for what it is... just set it up and leave it. Really simple.

Kaspersky? :yuk

It cost 60 bucks!!! Thats way more than i'm willing to spend! I'd go 30 but not any more than that. :)

yea thats only like £30 to me! lol thats nothing lol

not true... i cracked my kaspersky with everything and i got a worm that wont get out lol

worms are notoriously hard to rid of! manually deleting it is the only way and even that takes forever as they copy em sleves every where!

I have to agree that AVG -8 is not what is best , suites usually are not.
I would prefer anti-virus only , and the malware scanner/s a separate app/s.
That said , I am running AVG-8 , and it has not slowed my machines { an old Dell P-4 2.8 --- 512 RAM} or my newer ones.
I did run into a initial problem however . AVG -8 does not play nice with all other RUNNING Malware scanners , and apps. I simply downloaded the new version and it would not update .
I shut down some other apps and ....no problem . I don't know yet what the problem was but I suspect either the new spywareblaster {javacool} or my old AVG spyware program was causing the problem .
When I fiqure it out , I will post .
At any rate , I will use AVG , but I am not happy with the change . I prefer a purely anti-virus program.
I was always afraid they would get carried away:(

Another thing I found that may be interesting .
I ran an AVG scan and removed the usual tracking cookies , and then ran a Superantispyware scan ---- found several things including a trojan {regscan trojan}== it was removed no problem
Superantispyware can also deal with , at least , some worms . I have removed a couple of things at work the Kapersky just flagged as running .
I have used it on PC's at work , and at home. Great performance , and dealt with stuff the others could not .
I can't recommend this scanner enough !. :thumbup
Free or paid version , its really good , and plays nice with AVG or any of the rest . >f
