Peter, they all say that because that is what they hear on FOX news, from Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity or some other local wannabee right wing talking head. They all deny being listeners and followers of these talk show hosts, but isn't it interesting that they all essentially parrot the exact same talking points? They have adopted the "libertarian" moniker in an attempt to disguise there underlying conservobotism.

Some of the most vocal of these "libertarian" types that rail against social programs are just like a combination of "The Island" and "Denial-Ican" portrayed in the OP. We have one right here at OTz that draws a government military pension, free military health care, is a government school teacher in Texas, will draw retirement from from the state of Texas and Social Security from the federal government in his next retirement. 100% of this guys income comes from taxpayers - a total leach on society by his own libertarian definition. But to hear him talk, nobody else should have what he has because in his "libertarian" mind, they haven't earned it - as if he has. . I have a neighbor down the street just like that, except my neighbor doesn't hide behind the libertarian moniker. He will flat out admit he is a right wing Christian conservative - he is proud of it. The neo-cons here seem to be ashamed of their beliefs, hence they hide behind the term "libertarian". Funny that.
