That just sounds like insecurity about your beliefs to me. I fail to see why something can't be debated just in case someone disagrees with you. I'm not saying either way about this. I just don't see why there should be a problem with anyone debating it, especially seeing it's posted in the debate section.:dunno

Oh come on. You know nothing gets accomplished in the religious "debates" here. It just turns into a giant flame-fest, and I can't blame her for wanting to avoid it.

It dosen't have to get into a huge flame fest if both sides are respectful and can agree to disagree at the end of it.

I've never seen the religious side be disrespectful, but I've seen a lot of it the other way around

By the way, for the record, I believe that Spock got things way wrong. I think there are a lot of good things the Bible can teach kids but also a lot of bad things. I'd hate my kids to brought up to believe that gay people are evil like the Bible teaches, for instance.

I post plenty of religious types articles to be 'debated', but this was not one of them. This was to Christians regarding a Christian issue. It really doesn't have anything to do with Spock. He is a metaphor in this whole article.

If there was a place for people to discuss their faith with others in their faith I would have put it there; but there is no forum/thread/place like that here at OTZ for like-minded people to discuss their spirituality journey with each other. I don't see why it is asking too much for people to respect the title of the thread. 95% of the other members here did.

This isn't the debating forum. It's "Philosophy and Debate". I'd say religion meets the Philosophy criteria perfectly.

And Grace has the right to say "this is my thread, don't debate in it". In fact, it's not a right. It's basic human courtesy. Is your hatred so much that you can't let Christians have a thread to themselves? Just stay out of it if you don't like it.

You say you've seen the religious side be disrespectful in threads. But know what I see here? You and AEF are disrespecting her wishes to have this be a thread for Christians to discuss their beliefs.

You can make a thread and talk about hating religion if you want. Nobody's stopping you. But you never do that. You come in other people's threads and whore them up complaining about your hatred of religion when that's not what the thread is about.

You and AEF are doing nothing but taking away from the purpose of the thread. Go make an "I hate God" thread, nobody cares. But leave her's alone. It's simple.
