Well, I think that if a baby needs to be fed, mothers should breast feed them in the bathroom, if there's one available, to avoid any complications. But if there's no bathroom or anything, you don't really have a choice.

Food.

It is reccommended that babies are breastfed for the first six months. Some mothers choose not to, and that's definitely their choice. But breastfeeding is not unnatural, it's not disgusting, it's not offensive. It is just the opposite.

If a baby is hungry, you feed it. Breasts are not just sexual objects, they are an important part of the bonding between a mother and a child.

I remember when I was almost thirteen, my mom took all of the kids shopping. My little brother was about to be two, and my little sister was ten months. My mom stopped to feed my sister, and one of the security guards in the mall told her to cover up and stop being indecent. She started yelling, and she got to breastfeed in peace eventually, but still.

I think breastfeeding is important. It's bonding, it's natural.

I breastfed my daughter until she was a year old, but I always made sure I had a cover over her head when I was in public, and tried to go into a bathroom if one was available. Hell I even sat in the car many times. Im ok with it I guess, but I do think that women also need to be respectful of other peoples opinions on it also, and be discrete about it too.

Asking this question is a bit like asking whether a penis should be used for sex, or whether it is correct to listen with your ears.

Breasts are there to provide convenient & vital nutrients to your baby. So use them.

Our stupid society looks upon breasts as things of evil. I heard a story once about an African tribesman who was told that women cover their breasts in the west because men will leer at them. He responded by asking "Why do the men act like babies"?

Brest feeding! I don´t think it´s that intolerable just because its not so common, publically.

But we must always keep in mind that "Assholes" are important or God wouldn´t have created so many of them!

I think it's down right offensive to ask a woman to hide in a bathroom to breastfeed her baby. It's natural and good for all involved.
It's only offensive to people because we have choosen to hide it and turn it into a taboo practice. There wouldn't be one person offended if it was treated like it should have been from day one. If all of us had grown up in a country where it's completely natural to breatfeed in public, this wouldn't be an issue.

More power to those mothers who have the courage to stand up for what is right. And Goddamn it, quit hiding in bathrooms and being descrete. Show them that there is nothing sexual or dirty about it.

Only in America is breastfeeding a baby considered offensive. I do think that the mother should at least have the decency to put a small cover over herself. Not because I think it is offensive, but moreso because there are some sickos out there that get off on catching a glimpse of a breast even if it has a baby attached to it.
True story (though not entirely on topic) I was at a public library in Jacksonville one day and the maintenance dude was going around doing general cleaning. He was crouched down scrubbing the hell out of a chair at one of the tables. I mean, he was going at it! Must have been one hell of a stain judging by how long he was there. I happened to think this was odd because he needlessly had his head tilted down and under the table. So I casually walked around to the other side and saw that there was a young lady sitting directly across from where he was "cleaning". Of course, she was wearing a mini skirt, and from the looks of it she was sitting with her legs open a bit. I was seriously considering telling the management about what he was doing, but he happened to look up and saw me looking at him. He got all red-faced and then stood up and walked away. Fuckin Pervs man!

This is true, but do you think that this would be the case if women weren't forced to cover up? I know that this IS the way that people are now, but if we all grew up in a society where it wasn't taboo to see a womans breast, then you have effectivly removed the "perv" factor and made it just as benign as looking at a man's chest.
