FMN = fuck me naked!

So Ive had this car for about 3 yrs
I owe less than 3k on it if i recall correctly.

Its been an awesome car! I mean it is nothing fancy but i had wanted one since i knew of them LOL

A few weeks back the car started giving me problems.
a sensor went out
then another sensor went out
along with an injector

now... im about to spend 1000 USD in getting all 4 injectors replaced.
FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!

My next car is going to be a 1990 - 2000 honda! I'm comfortable enough with those cars to tear their engine apart, put it back together and it be working LOL

Anyone ever spent 1k to get their car repaired? I figured most average consumers would just say fuck it and get a new one LOL

Isn't there any way to tackle it yourself?

I don't think I have ever spent more than $100 getting my car fixed by someone else. I refuse to spend $300 on a brake job when I can do it for under $40... you know the drill

What make and model? What would it cost you to buy the injectors yourself? They typically aren't hard to replace at all

I can do the simple things as well but I am just not confident enough to fuck with it and have something go wrong.

The car is a 2002 Audi A4 1.8T

It should run good after you get the injectors replaced

I've spent $1,110 but usually every repair I've had is $500-$800
I'm sorry for your loss lol.

Audi's can be quite expensive to have repaired

Yeurgh. I hate spending money on car repairs, as far as I'm concerned that then becomes money on 'what I paid for this car' So if it cost me £1000 originally and then we spent £300 on fixing shit, I feel like we should have just paid £1300 and got a better car in the first place.

HK, you buy cars for 1000? Dollars or Pounds or Euros, whatever, not surprising they soon need repairs.

Thanks god I've read the entire thread...I was about to recommend you a German engineered car, when I saw your problem is about an Audi :D:D:D

I think your car is a good one, and worth to pay the repair...I don't know, but maybe you can get the injectors in a car scrapping and replace them yourself.

We opted to get it done right.

A car is now days a necessity and the fact that it is a nice car is null when you take into consideration that it is my daily driver (all 10 miles i put on it a day LOL).

@ Jeremy - I looked it up, it seems to be fairly easy, and ive done worse things to a honda than that LOL thing is if i fuck up something and blow up a honda engine, i am sure i can frankenstein one or buy a used replacement fairly cheap, if I blow up the audi engine, id probably have a harder time to find a suitable replacement and a decent price LOL

@ Tim - True, the injector replacement is really an easy job, id rather have someone who is insured do the work, that way if the car is broken because of something they did, they would in turn have to get it fixed.

@ barney - You know... I love german cars but one thing ive noticed is that the quality of the electrical work in anything german is shit LOL style, comfort and mechanically, the car is stout! but when it comes to electrical work, there is a HUGE 180 on the quality lol

@ Satin - I am the opposite of you LOL I want the feeling of true ownership!

At any case after lots of money my car is home!

Just think of the quality beer time we missed! I told Staci earlier I just got back from Houston. Flew in about 11 on Wednesday and was leaving by 2:15 yesterday. We WILL be driving again the next time, so hopefully we can catch another beer or six. Glad it's back together though. I can understand the fear of not getting it done right. My dad and I had minor issues with what should have been a simple brake job on my pickup. Ended up with a reman caliper that was fucked up.. I was as bad off with that as I was the one that was hanging up...

Our day car is a 13 year old Mitsubishi. If it every starts costing us more in repairs than the deposit on something better, we'll upgrade.

Your paying for the Parts plus the Labor of replacing the injectors, I would suggest you purchase a Haynes manual of you make and model of your car.
If your having trouble your local auto store could help you out
