I have known several people to get sick with the flu immediately after getting the shot. My luck with the medical field is legendary.

The last time my mom got the flu shot she got sick..

Mom had type 2 diabetes and her doctor suggests she gets the shot to avoid any complications.

There are several strands of the flu virus, and it is always mutating... the vaccines they give are only for the virus they have been able to make a vaccine. They cannot possibly get one to cover all.

Anywho, being asthmatic, I have gotten it every year since I was little. I only have had the flu twice in my life. Most of the time it is a common cold I get and turns into bronchitis or a severe infection.

My kids will be getting it also, especially with Amara in school now.

Same with me and my 7 year old son who also have asthma. I have had the flu shot for 30 some years now and have never got sick.. My son has gotten it since he was a baby and has not gotten ill..

That said when my Mom was alive she did get it one year and was sick.. My understanding is that you cannot get the flu from the flu shot but you can get ill at times.

My mother got the flu badly that year but as the doctor pointed out the flu was already all around us and she most likely was in the stage where it was about to happen prior to the shot.. Hence shot or no shot she would have been sick from the flu anyway..

It took the doctor two years to convince her to take the shot again and when she did she was never sick again from the flu..

As Thorny pointed out there are many strains of the flu in the shot and some years they really miss it badly.. But even in those years those strains they give you boost your immunity and do help your system fight the flu that was not in the list of strains..

I haven't had one in like 5 or 6 years, for some reason I think they gave me one before I went travelling :p

Don't need it, since I suffered from it a few weeks ago. I'm now probably immune from this winter's flu...hopefully
Seasons have nothing to do with flus... Just because you got it once doesn't mean you cannot get it again.

Uh-huh yea, but since I already had it I guess I will be immune from this winter's bug, unless a mutated version gets me

All well and fine for those who have no heath issues and feel they can handle the flu..

But look up the statistic and I would rather take my flu shot yearly then take a chance at becoming another victim..

But keep in mind all those you infect and could potentially put at risk of dying as well within your own family as you are sick and pass on the germs, especially in the first day or so you have no clue it's the flu yet and are most dangerous.

But hey, what's a grandma / grandpa or little cousin with asthma who dies due to the flu because.. I'm sure you can live with out them Right ?

The flu shot can't give you the flu. I'm sure you already know that. ;)

I've been getting it for years and will get it again this year.
