To all the FL people here...
My crazy ass family is thinking of moving AGAIN
We are really happy here in TN...but my sister wont move here. She wants to move to FL (The Palm Coast area). So, most likely if we cant convince her to move here...we will all be moving down there. Does anybody know anything about Palm Coast? Does it get hit by hurricanes a lot? Is the weather hotter then hell?

I like palm coast. It has been a while since it has been hit by a hurricane usually the go through orlando and the palm area just gets right side of the hurricane which is the much milder side to a hurricane and on the fringe on there it is like a bad t-storm.

Define hot as hell because yes it gets hot. During the summer you are looking at least for a few weeks 100-110. The winters are non-existant even up here in jax. You will hardly if ever see freezing. During the fall though it can be nice and you are looking at 70s and 60s during the winter except for a few odd weeks. Humidity is always pretty high though but depends on how far inland you are.

Thanks for the advice LP... hot as hell to me is those temps you mentioned! I know about the non winter there and all. I think it would be beautiful there in the winter. I am wondering if I can get used to a mild Christmas though! How are the peoples attitudes? Are they friendly there? Its been years since i have been to Fl... but I am planning a visit within the next 3 weeks to check out the place.

You have your mix of people. Around that area though people are pretty friendly and thankfully they still speak English.

haha Alicia. I honestly think I would rather be here. But we are such a close family... I cant picture being that far away from my sister and my little goddaughter.

Well, when I say family, I mean mother, father, sister and brother...and of course my husband, boys, and my sisters husband and her daugher. But yeah... I guess if that were something I were used to...maybe it wouuld be easier to deal with. But we have always lived so close. I have been here without my sister for a few months now...and I cant take it anymore!

Palm Coast is super close to St. Augustine, where Donnie and I live. It's a pretty nice place and one of the fastest growing areas in the U.S. It does get pretty hot here. You don't have to worry about hurricanes too much thanks to the Gulf Stream (it pushes them out towards the ocean) but you sometimes get the edge of one (which aren't that bad).

Thats what I have heard too... but only from my sister who, I thought might be being biased about it! She also said that the Gulf Stream tends to make it a little warmer in the winter...and contrary to popular belief, make it cooler in the summer. I know I was checking weather.com recently and on most days it was hotter here then it was there. Im excited...but nervous at the same time. My family isnt one for hot weather... which makes it a crazy idea to move there! Thanks for the info!

Palm Coast is nice. Ive been there a few times to visit a friend w/ Joe. The people are about the same anywhere. Some are nice, some are ignorant. You will always have your mix.

LP answered the other questions right on. I would rather there be NO winter than me freezing my ass off!! But that is because I was raised in the south.

Thanks V. Yeah... I am used to freezing my ass off in the winter! It would be nice for some warm weather in the winter!
