People who catch and release do it for "sport" based on a point system. Weigh the fish, mark it down and take a picture for bragging rights. They dont care about the fish as an animal. Its just the ball in the game of water basketball

ahh...fishing...you get your equipment together and go out into the great outdoors,you breath that fresh country air,you take in your surroundings,sometimes you might even see a kingfisher or heron...catching a few fish is a bonus indeed...then you have real sport anglers,big money in this,whether it be actual matches that have big prize funds for the winners or whether it be specimin hunters who on catching a few prize fish often get into the papers only to find they start getting big sponserships...and put that on top of the fact that fishing is a wonderful way to relax

Fishing is about bragging rights on who caught the biggest..... not who has the biggest. Ummmm.... speaking of men of course.

I happen to fish on occasion. I love the water, the thrill of the tug at the end of the line, and the fight that the fish gives before you reel it in to show it off. I'll never forget the 6" Large Mouth Bass that I reeled in. The guys I was with were so at a loss for words that they couldn't stop laughing. I felt ecstatic and giddy.

I did however NOT unhook the fish. I do not touch fish. I do not touch bait. :yuk

BTW.... I let the guys release that one. They did piss and moan about it though. Greedy bastardos! :mad

Fish have small brains & short memories. They will bite the same bait within minutes. Only if deeply hooked or mishandled are they traumatized. Pro fishermen take extra care of the fish because they are penalized for dead fish.

I watch fishing shows occasionally if the fisherman is entertaining. The tournament series can be interesting.

My daughter loved fihing when she was young and had unbelieveable patience.

Unlike hunting with a gun catch and release is an option. Most of my fishing is pond fishing and is about culling often. I have fished days when I caught enough fish to feed the neighborhood. I have fished other days I never got a bite.
