Are you having multiple sessions of Firefox running in your Task Manager ?

Do you have like 10 SVGHOSTS in Task Manager ?

Do you use AVG as a anti-virus software ?

OK so the problem I had, and it sounds similar, was that the antivirus AVG was grabbing Firefox and not letting it close properly..

I run Firefox on 2 Laptops and one Notebook and have no issues with it.. I can never understand those who claim it is Firefox that is the problem when 99% of the times it is a sub software problem and not Firefox that is the issue..

If you have a bunch of Ghosts in the Task Manager there is a problem elsewhere.. Something is keeping or starting those applications up or not letting them shut down..

Kill the SVghosts one at a time. If they are required they will pop back up..

Dana, this could be spyware, virus or just your antivirus going berserk on you.. You have to analyze it correctly.. If you start using Internet Explorer you will have the same issues eventually..

The problem with killing SVGHost.exe, especially as I found on Windows XP is that if you kill the wrong one, you'll be forced to restart the PC, unless you manage to abort the shutdown. Thankfully that doesn't happen on Vista (not sure about 7 though).

Sorry I use tools that I sometimes automatically forget others may not have..

You should download the following advanced Task Manager.. It's called Process Explorer from Microsoft and is free to download. Put it in your windows directory and launch it as you would the Task Manager.

It has far more features and information then any other..
