OK 1st I have read lots about Firefox and checked out what wikipedia (which is my main source for my info)I have heard lots about Firefox lately...Do any of you guys use it? Plz let me know about the Pro's and Cons of using firefox...Now just as a note I have used IE since I caught my 1st wave surfing the net.

2nd is if any of you guys know anything about codecs and divX I could use some help as well. I have tried a couple of torrents and sometimes the play back is all F'd up. Do I need new AVI/Divx codecs or new Windows media player (my laptop is only 8 months old). OR is there another player I can use to help out with this problem.

1) I use firefox and IE both. I love firefox when im browsing a bunch of pages at once because it has a tab feature. You can also download a lot of plugins for it. I sometimes have trouble with java aps loading on firefox.

2) Download divx player, it should play nearly everything

i had an issue with firefox.. runescape.com was a game i played pretty regular when i tried firefox... and the input function was not as good as some say it was.

but as time went by, i played the game less and less, and to the point of if i really wanted to, i could play, but its not that important at all. so i tried again.

tabbed browsing was not for me. i prefer ie6. i think becuase of my common sense browsing skills, i dont have to worry much of the exploits in ie.

not to say ie is perfect, its just what i use.

as for the divx, others have already posted links.

I use Firefox and love the damn thing. I browse hella-fast with it. My favorite extension (or plug-on, whatever) is mouse gestures. Try it out - it's awesome. Plus, it's a lot safer than IE which doesn't ask you about anything. It just accepts everything without your permission. I heard Opera is very good as well.

sorry, gonna have to call bullshit on that one. if you dont like it asking questions, you just gotta set some settings. which, are readily available from ie's tools>internet options>security [tab]>custom level [button]>enjoy playing with the settings. and, if set properly, will ask you every single time if you want to run a script.

Yeah I agree with ya dude. I have my IE security set up by my lil brother whom has become quite the lil hacker himself. He set up my stuff so I wouldn't likely have any issues. I got the DivX player and Firefox...Thanks guys I am a convert...I like firefox lots so far....

No, I was saying quite the opposite. IE doesn't ask you questions. It just permits anything that might be dangerous without asking you.

I love Firefox, mostly for the tabbed browsing and the extensions (get Stumbeupon, that's how I found this forum).

My status bar is currently telling me the weather, the time, date, how many files are being loaded (you don't have to have a download window), an mp3 player, and damn near anything else I want.

The best part about Firfox is, I haven't had a spyware or adware in over a year - I don't even have Norton on my computer anymore.

There are some pages Firefox won't load, but be suspicious of these because they probably have that same spyware.

I have one extension that allows me to open a page ina an IE tab, so I can still load anything I want.

Also, hit Ctrl+Shft+Del, and it erases your history, but not saved passwords.

Good for hiding porn from the little lady...
