As you may or may not know I recently installed XP on my laptop. I've had very good luck with it, everything works great and no little yellow explanation points. However I have a fingerprint scanner and the software that I downloaded from HP's site is pretty bad, it makes the shut down times take forever and it's pretty hit or miss. I've got the drivers for the scanner installed but I was wondering if anyone knew of some good freeware software that could manage a fingerprint scanner. Thanks.

Most freeware comes with spyware. My Sony Vaio notebook came with original fingerprint scanner but I dont use it cuz its a hassle sliding your finger and getting it right after numerous tries

Where are you getting your freeware? I love freeware/open source. Anyway, I kind of liked my scanner, worked pretty good.

That's why you only download freeware/open source programs from reputable websites.

I still prefer using preboot passwords. I mean what if you are in a horrible accident and you loose both of your thumbs? Got to think ahead my man. :)

It's only easier and quicker if it takes the first time. The ones I've used were quite lacking in precision.

And with my laptop, it's just a brick without the password. The Lenovo T60 bios password cannot be reset with a jumper or taking the battery of the cmos out. If you loose the password, your SOL

Not too hard to take the cmos out.... :) So it's just a brick until you take it apart.

My scanner is pretty accurate, so I would like to have it back.
