My mother and her man just installed a new hard drive. They have no idea what the sound card brand is, and even asked the dude that put it together and he couldnt remember... how would they find this out?

if there are speaker ports it has a motherboard. device manager should tell you what it is, just right click on my computer and click properties and click device manager. mine for instance is under "sound, video, and game controllers." click the plus button to expand it and show all of it.

my laptop sound card is falling apart. The speaker jack is so loose, any slight movement sends static through. When I have the speakers turned up in the least, it's enough to make my head explode.

Don't know if a Dell is worth that kind of money to fix.....I'm in a dilemma.
