As a resident of southern Maine, United States, I live in an area in which the crime rate is low, and natural disasters are unlikely, as they happen far and few between here. And that is one thing I like about living in this part of New England.

However, in order to like living wherever it is you live, you have to like other reasons as well. Being safe is important. But feeling safe by itself may not be enough for you to like where it is that you live.

There are many other factors that matter. Does the area you live in have a good school system if you have kids? Is there a lot to do in your area? Is it easy to meet people your age in your community?

Feeling safe matters. But feeling safe is only one of many factors when it comes to whether you enjoy living where you live.
