Farrah Fawcett, a reigning symbol of American pop culture who never quite managed to escape the one electrifying role that made her that symbol -- as one of "Charlie's Angels" -- has died. She was 62, and had been suffering from anal cancer, which had recently spread to her liver.

Re: Farrah Fawcett lost her battle today.

I cannot tell you how many guys I knew who had that swim suit poster on their walls.

And just how did you acquire this information (about her posters, not her loss of life)? Farrah was a cutie and a real brave slugger. Right up to the end she had that patented smile for the camera. So long Farrah, we love ya.

LOL I guess that implies some personal knowledge of many walls, but no. I merely heard discussions and my brother had one and said lots of his friends did too.

She was very brave. I didn't have the heart to watch her special last month, but I applaud her effort in making it.

So long indeed...

I respected her as well. Her special was her last assertion of control as to how she would be viewed by the public. I couldn't watch it, but I admired her for doing it.

I thought so, that's how I took it. LOL

Tease away, I have a thick skin.

Well, not like an elephant or anything.

:24: I seem to keep falling in that ditch.

agree

there were many times when the press hounded her, constantly replaying tape of her appearing to be drunk on a chat show (Letterman?)

i will think of her as a brave fighter, yet this image comes from her directly not from the media

I'm not a bog fan of celebrities, but I always felt like I knew Farrah was a human being, if that makes sense.

Sad :(

I remember that, it was Letterman. Obviously, she had a bad night. Unfortunately, she was always fodder for tabloids.

She accomplished her goal in the end. The last word on who she was. Bravo and well done.
