what type of faith do you have and what religion are you? And what religion were you raised in ?

I was raised in a pretty strict southern baptist home. I followed christianity until I was about 18, then I rebelled hardcore against my family, and my religion. For a while it ws something I thought I no longer believed in, but lately especially I have had all these little signs around me...I feel like God is trying to tell me something..or call me back. It's turned my relationship upside down with my fiance. Maybe it's God, maybe it's my intuition. Anyways, yeah, I was thinking of making an appearance at a church on sunday. Just to explore, see what I feel

I believe in nothing labeled religion. I dont need a reason for existance. I dont need an afterlife. I am just content with living my life, being as good a person as I can, and dying.
I was raised lutheran, and went to a private lutheran school. I thought it was a joke the whole time.

I was raised as an Evangelical Christian, and that was basically my entire life up until, maybe the age of twelve or so. Then I really started questioning, and that wasn't received particularly well by my mother, so I eventually left when I was eighteen, and haven't really identified myself as having a religion yet.

I'm not sure what I believe now.

I was raised in a pretty hardcore religious sect which I can't even bring myself to mention as I feel so betrayed and fucked up by them. It's because of this that I have absolutely no time whatsoever for religion and I think the world would be better off without them. That's not to say I don't have any belief in God, I just think its best to make your own mind up about things without some vicar ect dictating to you what's right and wrong. I'm an adult and I can make my own mind up about that.

I am a Pagan. I believe in nature, and the power there of.

I was raised Christian... Methodist. Once I moved out of home, I started questioning, and found Pagan beliefs and principles made a lot more sense to me.

I was born and raised as a Jew, and I will be a Jew until I die. My children will be raised Jewish, and hopefully my grandchildren and so on.

My identity as a Jew is very important to me. I can't imagine what my life would be like without it. There have been times where I have questioned my faith, but Judaism is very welcome of questions, and those periods have only served to stregthen my belief.

Several years ago I had the oppurtunity to visit my mother's family in Israel, and while we were there I was taken to the Western Wall to pray, and that may just be the most amazing experience of my life. That place really stregthened me.

Judaism is not just a religion, but also a culture, and both the religion and the culture have shaped me into who I am today. I turn to my religion and to my culture in times of weakness and in times of strength, and that has never failed me.

I went to Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches and Bible camps throughout my childhood the various family members and friends. My friend is a Messianic Jew and I went to a Shabbat service with her (which was very interesting). My dad was raised primarily as Methodist and Catholic and my mom was Baptist. I tend to identify myself as Methodist but I never regularly attend any sort of service.

I was raised a Methodist and still am. I don't question my faith, and I don't think I ever will. My mother was raised Methodist, and my father a Catholic.

I was brought up in a dual religion home, my dad is Jewish and my mum is Catholic (which is why I was christened Catholic). I was educated in private Catholic schools which required church attendance and religious participation. Now I attend church very infrequently, though I do believe in God, but I am of the opinion that I don't need to go to a man-made structure to talk to him, he can hear me just as well while I'm sitting on my couch. Basically I live by the principal of being the best person I can possibly be whilst respecting other people's choices in life.

That's exactly how I feel but most people don't seem to understand it.

There was another thread somewhere on here re religion.

I read quite a few but am totally against so-called religion.

I do have very strong opinions on it but I get so worked up putting my point of view across on so-called religion, that I don't bother anymore.

All I know is, that I would not go knocking on peoples' doors to do my best to make 'religious' people stop being religious. I am extremely offended that they knock on my door to try to make me turn 'religious'.

Anyone who is not 'religious', should not be questioned on their opinions by those who are - why should we explain ourselves. I don't and won't ever explain my own right to decide.

I get so annoyed over a stupid fantasy.

I respect people such as Jews though, but more so as people not their religion necessarily, because all that was dealt to them years ago, they have been a continious strong group of people and carried on so bravely, regardless.

Enough said, bored with this now.

I spent six years in a Church Of England Boys Home, from age 6 to 12, so there was plenty of church & Sunday school but while I am grateful for their care, I am an atheist.

I see no evidence of God anywhere but I still try to live by my own personal motto - "Do whatever you want, just don't hurt anyone".

Freespeech, I wasn't trying to question anyone's belief in this thread, and I'm sorry if I came across that way. This thread was actually not meant to be a debate, I just didn't know where else to put it and I figured that religion kind of falls under philosophy so I put it here. I'm not asking you to "explain yourself" and defend what you believe here. I just like to see what other people think and I find that sometimes I can gain insight to what kind of person someone is if I know what their religious background is.

I am born in a well-known prestigous family .. mom and dad have taken good care of me ... Freedom was always with me and I was also taught how to use it in proper way. I am sure my parents are proud of me :)

My Faith is in God and my Religion is the path which leads me to God. I also trust God because nothing can be done without his permission in this Universe. Religion is something we should be proud of only if we learn to respect and equal treat other religion and tats what I have been following and will always follow.

Ah, I am really sorry - I probably didn't post too well, but it was meant in a completely different way to the way you feel I posted.

Honestly, I didn't take it that you were trying question anyone's beliefs. I was just responding to the debate on here that it has turned into, that's all.

I wasn't for one minute, thinking you were asking me or anyone else to explain ourselves - please don't feel bad.

I just posted purely, with my view on the subject. I really didn't feel you were asking anything more of us on this thread.

Please don't worry.

I was replying as though I was having the conversation with my friends on this subject, because I do feel very strongly about it.

I am sorry I made you feel apologetic when there is absolutely no need to be.

I am all for people having 'their' say.

Take care.

Ria. :)

grew up pentacostal, but public schooling.

threw those beliefs out ~16

i live day to day, observing things [including religion/religious ideas/what they do to a religious person] and drawing a few conclusions here and there.

i just had a quick debate about a few ideas with my mom. she is still a pentacostal christian or whatever they call themselves now.

me... well, i just dont believe in much. i can use things against itself, did just that tonight when debating with my mom about her beliefs, and i have used a few science rules against itself.

i dont care about an afterlife, should one exist. i dont believe in destiny, although i may use it against someone who might.

in other words,

i like logic. if it can be expressed in a logical way, and it makes sense to me - (if everything can be explained) - then i might think about believeing it. currently, nothing has, so :p

i guess i am trying to say i dont believe in anything.
