ugh.

weak teeth run in my family, and I just got bitch slapped by that fact yet again.

I have I guess what's called a compacted wisdom tooth, bottom left, where it goes slanted/forward, which kinda freaked me out cause i've never seen anything like that before. It had a cavity in it, but it was no big deal, i'll get to it eventually, ya know? I'm the type that puts off going to the dentist until I absolutely HAVE to, I know I shouldn't, but the whole weak teeth thing, well you know the drill. er.....well yeah.

Sooooo anyways, I was eating some chinese food, and one of the pieces of chicken was way over cooked and crunchy, long story short, now half of that tooth is gone. I guess it rotted from the inside out and I didn't know it/had no pain or something, odd, but anyways now it looks like a fat "C", more or less. So I called the dentist, i'm a new patient to this one, go in tomorrow at 11 and he's going to take a look at it.

I assume this will have to be cut out, anybody else ever had anything like this done?

I absolute HATE going to the dentist, weak teeth, and just teeth in general. Discuss.

Man that's nothing to worry about. The dentist will give you a shot of novocaine (which does NOT hurt regardless of what anyone has told you) and will cut the tooth out. In and out in about an hour. Now, I won't lie and say it won't hurt after the novocaine wears off. You'll probably be in some minor pain and have some bleeding for about three days or so. But you'll be alright.

yeah i've had a tooth pulled before and two fillings, so I know all about the shot jazz, but never had anything CUT out, so i'm guessing that makes it suck more.

And yes I hear you...I'm rooting for some good feel good happy pills after this :D

i hate all doctors. but now and then it is a good idea to go see one. i had to get a tooth taken out one time and they told me not to eat or smoke and stuff afterwards and i did anyway. had no problems. didn't even need the meds i got. it's not that bad though.

I have good teeth, so I don't mind dentists so much. I don't mind GP's or anything, but chiropractors can piss me off. Like, DUDE JUST CRACK IT.

I don't mind dentists, though. My orthodontist was hot...

i had a tooth cut out. The shot they put in my mouth to num it apparently didnt work, because it hurt like a bitch. I could litterally feel it getting pulled out. Finally i told them something was right. He was like "oh, the numbing agent must not be working" It was a bad experience to say the least

I was suppose to have my wisdom teeth cut out when I was in 9th grade but I was so terrifed that I didnt do it. Well, about a year ago my jaw started swelling while I was at work and it scared me. So I went to the dentist and he said my wisdom teeth were trying to come in. He sent me to an oral suregeon a week later and the only thing I remember is sitting in the chair and the oral suregeon himself starting my IV and thats all I remember. Next thing I know, they are trying to wake me up so I could leave. Everyone kept tellig me me that I might get dry sockets and they hurt, blah blah blah. Let me tell you, I had a very good experience with it. I only bled for like a couple hours after the extractions and I was able to eat the next day.

well I just got xrays and explanations and all that jazz done today, scheduled the appointment for next thursday to have it taken out.........$292.........ack. On the plus side the place is swarming with hot employees, so I didn't get sent into the dentist's office until like a half hour after my appointment was scheduled for. One of them looked like a brunette Jenna Jameson. good times, I put the mack down good and proper. Dad would've been proud :D

$292...fuck sakes. :(

yes of course they're doing local anesthesia, fuck sakes my threshold for pain isn't THAT high :D

I'm just not going under, they asked and I declined, I know that route, that tacks on another $100 minimum. The price I know isn't all THAT high, but it is when you just can't comfortably toss it around and not miss it, is all.

ahhh my bad I didn't notice that, but that's what I said, no putting me out.

which is for the best anyways, I hate the feeling of going under and I REALLY hate the feeling of coming around.

For wisdom teeth I thought that they usually put you under? At least that's what they did for me. And there shall be no complaining here from anyone because I have had in my lifetime 24 teeth PULLED. Yes people 24. Well...actually 26...I didn't include my 2 wisdom teeth. And I have yet to go and take out the wisdom teeth that are on the bottom of my mouth.

26? Quit crying, they were only your baby teeth. And it was only because your dentist charged by the tooth. They would have fallen out all by themselves in another day or two.
