Explosion this morning

While I was at work this morning we got a phone call from the sherrifs office stating that there had been a big explosion at Arkansas Aluminum Alloys (which is only like 3-4 miles from my house) So we got our disaster list out and started calling people in. At the time we had no idea how many people, etc were involved in the explosion.
After about 30 min of not hearing anything else, we found out that there were only 4 people that were involved in the explosion and that 2 of them only had minor injuries and the other 2 were in pieces. :( So so sad. I dont think it has been on the news as of yet cause I dont think that the families of the deceased have been told as of yet.

That is horrible. It is always shitty to hear things like that. We just found out this morning that one of the guys who used to be stationed here died Sunday. He had diabetes, but had never been diagnosed with it. Ended up dying suddenly of something called diabetic ketoacidosis. Not sure what all that means though. But it is scary that none of the Navy doctors in all his years in the Navy had ever caught that in his examinations. And, the Navy requires all sailors to have a physical examination every year. Scary stuff.

Truely a tragedy.:( We train for things like this at the factory I work in, but it still happens. When we hear stories about accidents like this it just makes you all the more careful when you go out of the floor to work on the equipment. You go home just a little more greatful that you made it through another shift. My deepest condolenses to the families of the deceased and to the survivors at the plant.
