HELP! I live in a small town where there is no YMCA or anything for kids to do inside when it is cold. I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. What is something I can do for them inside to keep them busy. I'd like something to wear my 2 year old out during the day so he sleeps good at night. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are there any stores that might sell toys or entertainment for kids? You might be able to get them some toys that they can play with. Perhaps a nice variety of them so they don't get bored.

I know what you're going through. I have a three year old and a six year old, and have been in similar situations. What helped with my, now, six year old was Thomas the tank engine. He got so into trains that we'd spend the day building track. With my daughter, she likes arts and crafts. So, we draw and play with play dough. The best thing, though is to get out of the house for a bit. If there's a park you can go to that should work for about an hour. Other than that, if you have to play inside, play puzzles, board games, or build forts out of cushions. Is there any way to connect with other families with small kids and get together. Small kids can wear themselves out when they have other kids to play with.

I understand your dilemma. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a nine month old. Keeping them busy when the weather isn't cooperating can be a real challenge! But I have a lot of tricks I use to keep their minds occupied. I have one cabinet in my kitchen that has nothing but Tupperware bowls in it. I let them go in there and "cook". I will give them big wooden spoons and measuring cups, which will keep them busy for a while. For my older child, I buy crayons and washable markers and let him sit at the table and "color" for a while. If they need some fresh air to get tired, bundle them up and take them for a walk. I guarantee they'll sleep good after that!
