To be fair a lot of pubs don't allow people to wear football shirts, mainly in the inner city places. Plus we all know England fans spit the dummy out whenever they go out of a Tournament so it's sensible really.

Among World Cup guidance, it suggests "dress code restrictions - example no football shirts". It also urges using plastic glasses and door staff.
Pubs are not obliged to follow the advice, but it warns: "Police will not hesitate to use powers under the Licensing Act should we find you are not actively supporting the prevention of crime."

So not a ban then.

Anyway, real harcore hooligans prefer their own casual style of dress, not football shirts.

put it another way......many like me wont use the local for englands games if we cant show our team colours.....now imagine say perhaps 50 people dont use the pub.....each would have spent perhaps £20.....the pubs lose out on money they can ill afford to lose out on

I don't understand why they all get so violent. It's sickening.
i think it is base, primitive and tribal

a sense of belonging and excitement that cannot be found elsewhere, or at least a rush that some have not yet been able to reproduce outside of this culture

......which is why pubs are not going to ban England shirts. In fact I am fully confident that as usual they will be encoraging England supporters with cheap beer offers and decking their places out in St George's flags like they always do.

Flag crackdown rumour 'nonsense'
A police force has described Facebook rumours of a pub ban on England flags during the World Cup as "nonsense".
The force also moved to quash an "urban myth" claiming pub landlords had been asked not to serve anyone wearing England football shirts.
The rumours started after the Metropolitan Police issued advice to pubs in Croydon suggesting "dress code restrictions - eg, no football shirts".
The advice sparked newspaper stories, and Facebook protest groups.

It is nonsense. Police officers are football fans too
Insp Howard Lewis-Jones
Insp Howard Lewis-Jones, of West Midlands Police, said there had been no directive stating that pubs should not bear flags.
He said: "It is nonsense. Police officers are football fans too and patriotism should be an important part of enjoying the tournament in a fun and friendly atmosphere as long as people are sensible."
The Metropolitan Police says the advice, issued in March, was never meant to be seen as a ban on England flags or shirts.
A spokesman said: "This letter contains a series of suggestions to make pubs safer for everyone.
"However, licensees are not obliged to follow our advice and there is no policy to stop the wearing of England shirts."

Story from BBC NEWS:

I love the protest planned in Birmingham, on facebook. Apparently 200 people are going to show up protesting about a myth.:24::24::24:

On my facebook there's been loads of people blaming Muslims and foreigngers because they are of the belief that the reason they are being banned is because of possibly insulting foreigners etc. Which is totally untrue of course. Though I guess that's what you get from reading publications such as the Daily Mail and Daily Star.
