emo

Ok, well, the Wikipedia explanation of "emo" sums up a lot. What I'm hindered by is the fact that the term "emo" reffered to "hardcore music due to the spontaneous outburst of emotions by the band members on the stage." I quote that loosely since it's coming from my memory, but wait... hardcore?? You're kidding, right? None of the band names even sound hardcore at all. If you've ever heard Deathmetal or some Blackmetal music, you know what's hardcore. When I was around 12, my brother took me to a Deathmetal concert. I was deaf for about two weeks and I remember it all very clearly: a bunch of crazy ass mother fockers dressed up in God knows what, slaughtering animals and crap followed by continuous yelling and screaming, in other words - hardcore. I mean, if you're going to be "emo", which is SUPPOSED to be marked as "hardcore", then what kind of a band name is "My Chemical Romance"? Yeah, sounds pretty freaking hardcore to me.

Wanna know a true hardcore band? That doesn't involve shitty music, generic lyrics and idiot band members? Origin. These guys don't even belong in any genre. They're basically insane. Origin's drummer is the greatest drummer in the world - he plays faster and better than a drum machine. None of their music is based off one of the band member's hearts being broken or some stupid shit like that. The funny thing ias that they're all a bunch of normal guys who make some incredibly insane, super-fast music that's capable of making someone's head explode while listening to it. They don't even take credit for the good music they make, although not everyone is able to take it in. I swear, when you listen to their drummer - you're thinking to yourself: "What the HELL? How on EARTH do you play like that?!?"

Anyway, look up some Deathmetal bands. Although they are all about screaming and making noise, they are definitely hardcore. I don't like the genre itself, but Origin is a great band indeed.

There's a difference between what's sub-categorized as "Emo" music, and sad, depressed, emotionally distraught people also known as "Emo". I personally listen to a lot of music that would be considered "emo" by today's music hounds who have to classify every band into the smallest damn genres of music they possibly can. I could care less what it's called, as long as I like the music and I can sing along to it. I'm not emotionally unstable, sad, depressed, I don't cut myself, and I'm not a whiny little rich bitch. In other words, "emo" just means "emotional", which, as far as I'm concerned and music goes, every damn band and artist could be classified into this sub-category considering music usually spawns from past experiences or something that the artist is feeling inside; therefor, it's ALL emotional if you look at it a certain way.
