perhaps the elephants simply didn't want to risk stepping in on the little guy? Or maybe they're just freaked out at seeing a bright white creature in an environment usually reserved for creatures with camouflage?

Very unusual and amazing at the same time. From the comments on the video it did not appear that the elephant was afraid of the mouse, but cautious. Perhaps elephants simply respect mice for some odd reason. Just my own little opinion as usual. Thank you for sharing the video.
