I give this movie 15 skulls(stars)stars out of 10. Unlike most modern killer/slasher movies, the killer(Ed) talks. He carries on full conversations with the victims, and the style of murders stays very true to the original murder cases, so does the style of murders. Ed bears the shocking flesh mask later on in the film. He never touches a chainsaw, as TTCM suggests. And the infamous "deer-hanging" murders are even shown.
[SPOILERS!]
Sue Layton's face is removed from her skull, and her full frontal flesh is remvoed, meaning the entire skin on the front(Breasts, arms, stomach, legs, all in one piece) is removed, and they are hung in the kitchen on a wall in the same locations as a body would be(Face above the torso).
The "deer-hanging" victim is Vera Mason, Bobby's mother. The vaginal area is not entirely shown, but it is bloodied-up and you can tell Ed gutted her through that area, and she's hung upside down like a deer, legs spread. The only difference being that the arms are removed and the breasts are still intact in the movie. Also, the body in the movie isn't split down the entire torso, as in the following picture.
[END SPOILERS!]
The story, unlike you would think, isn't set as a documentary, it isn't a news story. It's an actualy MOVIE, with well known actors. All in all, I think the movie stayed surprisingly true to the original stories of Ed Gein.
Here's the infamous "deer-hanging" picture. Be warned, this is not from the movie, this is the ACTUAL victim hung in Ed Gein's barn.
