Any way to play a UK DVD on a US DVD player?

I got a movie from a discount place ($2 so not worth trying to return, which I don't think I can...) but it won't play on my player or the XBox 360. Is there a way to work around the region coding or should I just give up?

Depends, find out the model number of your player, and search the internet. Lots of players have ways to do it.

I don't think you'll ever get the 360 to do it though.

I'm finding stuff, but none of it is working yet... I did find a way to program my DVD player to open 12450 times though. I couldn't stop it without pulling the plug. That wasn't a fun hack.

I have a Sony NS57P if anyone cares to help and search a little.

Sorry my dear but your model is NTSC ( North America ) only..

If you have a friend with a no name brand or some name you never really heard about it will probably play it..

I bought one from BestBuy called Malata ( India Made ) that play everything.. It also says it on on the box NTSC / PAL and such.

The Computer idea is probably the only other best idea..

Yeah...

But I sat, and pondered, and perused, and finally decided what I wanted to watch. And now my heart is set on watching Bedazzled. :(

Matt says they might remember us so we might be able to go swap it out. We don't have the receipt, but they only ring it up by typing in the amounts anyhow. It's a Mom and Pop type place. So a receipt wouldn't do us any good.

I'll have to try on the computer then. :(

Major boo

You know if you just got a new TV with Computer input, you can play it on that and stream it into the TV onto the screen.. It should be just as good as your DVD player :)

Even just having a Composite out on the Computer will work for the TV.. :thumbup

can you stream stuff from your PC onto the xbox? That's a sort of roundabout way of doing it if you want to watch it on the big screen.

The TV has a PC hookup, I just don't have the cable. Don't think I have one anyhow... Unless I can use the one for the monitor from the desktop.

And I meant to say last night- but apparently Sonys are notoriously difficult to hack. I would find the hard one to hack.

I'll just throw it in my computer later. I watch "cable" on my computer, so no worries about it being a smaller screen.

when I was in Ireland my cousins had a multiregional DVD player and they could watch pretty much any DVD they wanted to, so they are available.
