I just bought my friends old motherboard out of a Compaq. I downloaded CPUZ and according to that it is an AMD Athalon 64 x2 3800+, an Asus NODUSM3 motherboard, and the chipset is nVidia GeForce 6150. I know it's not special or anything but it's a good upgrade from what I had. I'm having hell with the drivers and just about everything else. It's 1:23AM and I've been working on it since 7:00. I've got wireless going, but only because I put the card in from my old computer and had the driver disk for it. I need to get the hardwire working, which I can't. And I can't get the sound working. I would re-install Windows but I can't find the damn video driver that I spent two hours looking for. I'm about ready to kick the whole piece out the window, please help.

I found that part of HP's site, I got a little out of it. Windows Black is just Windows Home (I think) with a bunch of themes pre-installed.

if you have your video card drivers now, burn a disc of the files it currently uses (device manager, double click the nvidia 6150, look under driver, driver files, and locate each file. then burn that disc with them on there. of course, if you want, add other drivers to the disc as well, to make sure you use the disc more efficiently.

other than that, just get model numbers, then look for the sound card model (if it is integrated into the motherboard, look at the motherboard page above, as you have prior) and download those drivers. same with the wired ethernet controller driver.

Get something called Everest Home Edition. It's a benchmarking and diagnostic software that will tell you exactly what hardware you have, including motherboard, and in some cases provide you with links on where to get drivers for your hardware.
