Natasha had a thread about how people in today's society take the meaning of "God parent" very lightly. By the same token, I happen to think that with today's internet age, people get the terms "acquaintance" and "friend" confused.
If you're going to lose a friend over some stupid butt conversation, I'd argue that they were never your friend to begin with. Crap, the guy who knocked my front tooth out in a fight was still my buddy until the day he died (and even though we hadn't spoken in years due to where our lives took us), his sister still called me to give me the news 7 states away.
