If only MLK Jr. wasn't assassinated. Our society would be considerably less prejudiced than it is now. I mean, it has definently come a long way in about 140 years, but it could be even more improved.

My nephew didn't have school today. Of course MLK, Jr and Presidents days are both 'built in snow days'. So if they had two snow days earlier this year, he woulda had school today.

But... bah... why was my bank closed? the USPS?

I have to disagree, most people are very stubborn about things like that.

They may be stubborn but I doubt that much.

When my dad was about eight (late 50s), my grandfather was invited to a business party but was told that my grandmother couldn't come because she's not white (she's Cuban, to simplify things). Nobody ever believe that they were related because my dad and his brothers looked "white", acted "white", talked "white", were anything but Cuban. Nevermind the fact that my grandfather was 1/4 Cherokee and 1/4 Cuban, making him mostly "non-white." Now, people don't care "what" he (or the rest of the family) is. And I know that the civil rights movement had a lot to do with this. All that was needed was a catalyst for change. Thank God we had Dr. King and people like him.

If MLK was alive today, he would be giving charasmatic speeches. And people would be influenced and follow him! This is what would help prevent our less than impressive culture from appearing in the first place. Sure, its the parents' fault. But the parents would be influenced by MLK and then nothing would be their fault.

I'm not trying to say the Civil Rights movement didn't do anything. And you never know, if King was never assassinated maby people would be different. I just think that if people in this day and age are racist, it's out of stubborness.
