I put on some Bath & Body lotion last night that I had in my cupboard for at least 3 years. I ran out of my cocoa butter so I needed something. I shook it up and used it. It didn't sting, burn or anything like that. It felt fine and smelled wonderful. I was happy I pack-ratted it.

I woke up this morning with swollen eyes (wtf???) They didn't hurt like I had conjuntivitis or anything then I realized I was covered in raised patches. Wondering what the heck was up :eek I remembered I used the lotion last night. Where ever I used it is where the raised patches are. I didn't use it on my face so I'm not sure why my eyes swelled? Just a reaction I assume. But they're better this evening. My lids aren't puffy any longer. Just under my eyes. Tho in the right light I can really see how my skin is still all raised & spotty. But I don't itch. Well, a little. But I think it's psychosamatic at this point :willy_nilly::D

I do not have sensitive skin. At all. I never realized that lotion can go bad if the consistencey and smell are fine. So beware of that bottle that's in the back of your cupboard that smells & looks fine. It might not be???

This has been a pubic service announcement :24:

tsk tsk Silly Moonie mumma. Put some cornflour on your self if it irritates.

Yeah but it looked & smelled fine....... I've had old lotion that you definitely know it's time to throw it out. Either by color or consistency or smell..... hehehehehehehehehehe...... It was wearing a Halloween costume of Wonderfulness....

What sucks is I have a bunch of stuff pack-ratted away that I should probably just throw out now as I'm paranoid..... dammit.... Well, at least I'll have a lot more space in my bathroom cupboards & drawer...... *grumbles*

If it's not gone tomorrow I will get some corn flour. Again I don't really itch. My skin is just puffy in places.

You've just got to read some of the ingredients in those products to know that you don't dare keep them around too long. Chemicals, additives, etc. Plus the temp fluctuations in the home to add to it.

I do have sensitive skin and I've really got to be careful even with fresh products.

I guess...:willy_nilly:

It didn't even occur to me that it could be bad considering it looked, felt & smelled fine... No burning, itching, anything...

I won't make the same mistake twice. That's for sure....

Please tell me you don't do that with food or beverages! :eek People have gotten pretty sick eating/drinking things that looked/smelled good. If in doubt.... toss it out!

:24: No, I almost go overboard on food. If it's past the ex date, I toss it. Sometimes even before if I think it's a bit off.

But lotion is a new one.

I know about make up. Tho I still have a few eyeliner pencils from Estee that are quite a few years old in a discontinued shade that I still use on occasion. They are fine. But I do get fresh mascara every few months.

I really am paranoid now. Plus I'm thinking of all the money I'll be throwing away by pack-ratting for a rainy day.... I wonder what else? Bubble bath? Dusting powder? Better not. I have some expensive powder I save for special occasions. Perhaps this is a clue that life is short. Use it up instead of saving it?:cool

I'm the same way with food.

And make up I definitely don't hang onto for long.

I should update this.... My eyes were less puffy yesterday and even less puffy today. But my face completely dried out (I didn't even use the cream there) and my arms and chest are completely dried out.

I tried putting some cocoa butter on my chest last night but it started to burn so I ran and washed it off. My hubby did indeed offer his fix this morning and I will grudgingly admit that my chest is less red (go beat your chest darling)

I just put some aveeno on my face w/no stinging and will move on to my majorly dry arms in a bit....

This has been the weirdest experience....

It still amazes me that a bottle of lotion that still smells good, looks good and feels good can do this much damage to my so non-sensitive self.

Beware people..... ;)
