Still a newbie
Last night I saw my big "D" cell Maglite wasn't bright so I decided to put in fresh batteries. I'm not sure how old they were but they were in an unopened pack that said something like they were good for 10 years. I put them in and then the Maglite wouldn't work at all. I tried a couple of the batteries in a different flashlight and they worked fine so I put them back in the Maglite and changed the bulb. It still didn't work. That's when I had my temper tantrum. I threw the light about 8 ft. but not real hard it landed on carpet. I picked it up about 10 minutes later and the flashlight was HOT! The lens was fogging up
As quick as I could I limped on my bad leg outside and figured I would toss it out in gravel of my desert landscape if it got any hotter just then I got it open and the batteries out the light immediately cooled down. Some of the batteries were leaking but not bad.
Needless to say I'm not going to risk using that Maglite again.
Anyone have any ideas what would cause it to overheat like that?
