Riley got nipped at the park today. Just a little spot on her ear. It put out a LOT of blood- her neck was covered in it. The bleeding has stopped, and I've got her mostly cleaned up. She's a little stained :(

What I'm not sure of is how to clean the actual bite spot. I tried to wipe it with the same wash cloth I was cleaning her with, but it started bleeding again.

Should I use rubbing alcohol? Neosporin?

And she's been very calm since then. She didn't freak out in the car, even started falling asleep. She whines if I let go of her (she will usually get over it, but not now). I feel awful and I feel like she's in shock or something?

Also, watch it for the next couple of days. If it starts puffing up and oozing, you could take her to the vet. If ya can't afford it, more hydrogen & neosporin.

I have cured many a furbaby wound w/both of those. I doubt you can put a bandage on her ear. If you can, do so.

As long as the puncture doesn't get majorly infected you should be fine.

I thought about a band aid and then realized how much hair is there and decided that would be way more painful than a nip.

I've cleaned it off as best I can- she doesn't like it very much and every time I mess with it, it starts bleeding again. I'll just neosporin it and see if I can clean the dried blood off more when she scabs.

Thank you!!!

You're welcome. Do you have hydrogen peroxide tho? You need to use it to bubble out any germs that might be in there. Now, probably later on tonight and possibly in the morning.

Pour some in the cap and dip a qtip in it and apply at least a few times. So what if she doesn't like it. Then top it off w/the neo.

It doesn't go all the way through her ear right?

The biggest thing you have to worry about is a germ getting into the wound and making a home there. You should know in about two days if that's happened. Like I said above, it will start to puff and ooze green.

But, if it's a tiny nip, then both products should work.

I had a cat that loved his bandages. He'd prance around the others and show his dressed war wound all proud that his mommy loved him. He was a trip. My other cats hated bandages.

You'll know if it's all the way through when you put the peroxide on it. It will bubble on the other side of the wound.

If you can't tell if it is, I'd be willing to bet it isn't.

Also, try not to panic. They sense that. Put on your MommyHat and soldier through in a calm & gentle, yet forceful manner. You will be having this done to you whether you like it or not and fussing will get you no where. Be brave and you get a treat when you're done ;)

My Dog (Late Dog) two days ago injured a cat and another dog. he got lose and ran around the neighborhood without me knowing. well a policeman showed up and told us to keep a better watch on him (After telling him about the fact he has been getting lose about 3 times week for 5 weeks now.) we did everything we could. so after the cop almost shooting him. my mom asked me with it would be better to give him to the pound or let him free in the country. so later that day we made our decision. the countryside seemed to be the best thing for him on my moms eyes. i agreed. (He wasn't even my dog i just took care of him) now we are left with the big ring in our yard and the memory of him. My mom didn't want to give him to the pound because the fear of him being "Put down". he has had a sad life story. we got him from a friend because she didn't want him anymore and left him at our house one day and never came back. (Dont ever get pets as gifts its just stupid) anyways the fact is, he is free now. he wanted that in the first place.
