I’ve felt more upbeat since joining a weekend soccer team. Do team sports actually help reduce anxiety and depression symptoms? Anyone here use sports as part of their mental health routine?

Playing team sports can help reduce anxiety and depression symptoms. The physical activity boosts endorphins, while social interaction fosters connection, support, and a sense of belonging, all crucial for mental well-being.

It is an essential defense against depression. Your mind will be energised and helping the person changed the aura of his life's perspectives from negativity to positivity, a true testament of getting healed through sports.

I think so, since you do more things than just sports, such as keeping your brain focused on several activities at the same time, thinking about something else, that is, being able to clear your mind of what worries you, change your energy, socialize with more people, etc. It is always highly recommended to be able to do sports with people we like.

I don't know because I have never played for a team. However, I did play with friends when I was in school. Back then I knew nothing about stress and anxiety. However, I believe sports c an certainly lift your mood as physical activities like sports can release happy hormones.

One thing about team sports is that it always comes with banters. And those banters help to lift your spirits and make you forget about issues that get you depressed. I always feel more positive after a game of football with my peeps.
