Does it bother anyone else when...

If I had a kid, I wouldn't want strangers around him/her. Never know what the strangers might do...
It's really hard to trust strangers these days (sometimes)... more and more people are doing stupid crap and making a bad rep for themselves and others (sometimes)

Exactly. I don't even leave my son in the car when I pay for gas. It takes a split second for someone to take a car or a child (whichever their intentions). I don't take my eye off of him in public settings.

that was portugal you're on about, pretty much the same though
Was it? I thought it was Spain. The 6 year old girl that was kidnapped in the 90s?

It fully depends on the parents.
I love kids, and if there is a little kid running around trying to grab my attention I'll talk to them, *maybe* touch them, on their head. But generally not, and only if the parent is smiling and obviously ok with it.

A few years ago I worked as a nanny for 3 beautiful girls, with blond curly hair and HUGE blue eyes. All of them were stunning, whenever we were in public people would constantly be touching their hair or face. I had some asian tourists ask if they could take photos of them on more than one occasion.
I said no of course. It made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and panicky. So I can understand where you mothers are coming from!

Pictures? :24: That's incredibly weird.

I KNOW!
It was because of the blond hair. My parents lived in Hong Kong for a couple of years when my brother was a baby. He had blond hair and my mum has told me they are crazy for it. They were always pawing at him!

Although, I must say I am very glad they had the courtesy to ASK to take the photos, rather than just take them!

Right. Better to be politely creepy than otherwise :ninja

That's a good thing... Dean is WAY too open to strangers for my taste.

Liam was like that too.. now he's less happy when strangers are around.

We live in an area that has a ton of immigrants and they are in awe of Liam's fair skin, blond hair and bright blue eyes. I get a little scratch that a lot weirded out by them gaping and grabbing at him. When I am in public I always have my hand on the stroller or on the cart with him.. I am so freaked someone will try to take him. :surrender
